Growing up in Texas, I drank a lot of real sweet tea. I am a firm believer that if you order "Iced Tea" at a restaurant and they bring you cold leaf water, Send. It. Back. Not here for it. Iced tea should always be sweet and delicious. So this southern, sweet, super simple, strawberry iced tea recipe is perfect for anyone who agrees with me!
Iced Green Tea
This recipe uses green tea as it's base iced tea. Green tea is super good for you. It's packed with antioxidants and all the good benefits like, increased brain function, improved health, and improved physical health. I personally love it for the taste as well. I use the Wild Harvest brand of green tea and love it! But you're favorite brand will work too.
The key to making iced green tea is to let the bags steep longer than an average cup of tea. I let the bags soak in the hot water for this tea for at least 10 minutes. This gets the flavor really nice and strong so that when you put ice into it, the flavor doesn't completely vanish.
How to make Strawberry Iced Tea
This sweet strawberry iced tea recipe could not be easier. There is no syrup, no crushing of the strawberries, and no sifting the strawberries out. Super simple and easy!
Start by boiling the water and steeping your tea bags in it for at least 10 minutes. Once the tea bags are done and thrown away, add frozen strawberries and your sugar or honey. Make sure to add the strawberries and sweetener to the tea while it's still nice and hot. This helps the strawberries to really infuse those juices into the tea while it cools down. The sugar and honey also dissolve a lot easier.
Let your tea with the strawberries cool off in the fridge for at least 4 hours. I will usually make this in the morning and have it ready to go with dinner. Our big 8 cup mason jar doesn't usually last more than one day in our house. Enjoy your delicious, refreshing, homemade, sweet strawberry iced tea!
