I'll be super honest here, I love french fries. Like, LOVE love them. I cannot stand it when they get tossed at the end of a meal or people don't finish them up because why on earth would you do that? Basically, I consider you a monster if you don't eat your dang french fries. These oven baked french fries are a staple in our house. They are super quick and easy to make and mmm they get nice and crispy and are just loaded with all the right flavors.
Salt and Vinegar
I use rice vinegar in a lot of my recipes these days. The flavor it gives is so crisp and tart and I just love what it does to my foods. These french fries, though, are my favorite recipe that uses rice vinegar. The salt and vinegar combination here is perfect! The fries come out not too tart but with just a hint of tang, and of course nice and salty. If you're nervous about the vinegar, trust me it basically enhances the salt and crispiness of the fries.
Oven Baked French Fries
Oven baking is the way to go with homemade french fries. I do love the flavor and everything about classic french fries fried up in a vat of oil - yum. But for everyone's health and well being, baking them in the oven has never been tastier.
I like to use either golden potatoes or red potatoes for these french fries. Cut them up match stick style (french fry looking). The golden potatoes are great for a rich buttery taste and the red ones have a lighter flavor and I think get a tad more crisp. Add them to a bowl and let's start seasoning!
All you need for these deliciously simple fries is some extra virgin olive oil, rice vinegar, and salt, pepper, and parsley flakes. You can definitely add all your own favorite seasonings but honestly, these fries are so yummy with just these ingredients.
Toss everything in a bowl and pop these babies in the oven to bake at 425 for about 30-40 minutes depending on how crispy you personally like your fries. Let them cool of course and then add a little extra salt and find you ingredients for our French Fry Dipping Sauce and eat the best snack, appetizer, yummy amazing thing of your life.
